Mullet...be gone!

This is Sutton's 3rd haircut. The first two haircuts (one on each side of his head) were the result of needing to place IV access in his scalp during his NICU stay. At 3 months old, we finally got around to cutting the 1+ inch mullet that he was born with! He is so sharp looking now! Now, if only the sides would grow in...

Potty training update

I cannot say enough good things about the book Toilet Training In Less Than A Day! Despite the reviews I thought it was not going to work. Or that we'd be cleaning up lots of accidents. Boy was I wrong.

We followed the exact instructions: potty doll, no distractions, treats and drinks that perpetuate the obesity epidemic in America, lots and lots of undies, etc. By dinner time I was worried we hadn't bought enough undies, but I could tell he 'got it.' I could tell, in part because he started manipulating me for M 'n' M's by going just a little, getting his reward and them heading right back to the potty to go some more.

Tuesday: We went back to our normal routine (including all if the distractions) and even ran some errands. One accident.

Wednesday: Not one. Single. Accident. NOT ONE! I remind him to tell me when he has to go every now and then, but for the most part he does it completely unprompted.

Thursday and Friday: One accident each.

Most of his "accidents" are related to going poop in the potty, so we have a little work to do there. Otherwise he is doing a great job!!

This cool cat is my kid. How did I get so lucky?

Big guy

Big guy has been sleeping so great lately. Nights typically consist of one 6-7 hour stretch and one 4 hour stretch. He has even been sleeping (soundly) without being swaddled AND he is now sleeping in his cradle! Mama is getting some good rest :)

Potty training

After the recommendation of a friend of mine I read Toilet Training In Less Than A Day. We made our game plan and Kedric and I tag teamed to train Cohen today. Several accidents (but many more successes) later he most definitely gets it! Now we will work in focusing since, like many two year olds, he gets very caught up in his play time.

I have to say that I am completely shocked at how well today went. I had a few moments where I wanted to pull my hair out, but it really went extremely well - just as my friend said it would. I guess I should have trusted all the rave reviews on the book!

NO. MORE. DIAPERS!! (for Cohen at least).
